Bunty Jones

“You showed us how to love and smile”

Peacfully at home on Friday 7th December, surrounded by the love and care of her family, Bunty aged 79 years.

The beloved wife of Les and dear mum, nan and great grandma who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Bunty was born on Friday 7th July 1939 at 10 Cotterill Street to proud parents Ron and Edith, it was the midwife’s suggestion that they called her Bunty due to her being a rather bonny baby! She had a younger sibling, Peter, who was born in February 1944.

Bunty went to Edleston Road and then Bedford Street schools, she was quite a chatty girl and made friends easily. She was popular with teachers and fellow pupils alike.

Her first job was at a shop along Nantwich Road in Crewe.

She met her first husband, Dave when she was quite young, they wanted to get married before he joined up, but aged 19, her dad was having none of it! So they married once Dave finished his service. The marriage produced three children, John in April 1961, Sue in June 1962 and Tony in January 1964.

Bunty became a dinner lady at Brierley Street school, an ideal job, she loved being around children.

Unfortunately her and Dave grew apart, eventually going their seperate ways. When she met Les, she was older and wiser. They got on great from the start and all the children said that he was so good for her. They lived a happy life together, until in 2003 Les sadly passed away.

Bunty was so welcoming, her home was always an open door. She did the catering for her son’s wedding and was a great organiser.

By the time she moved into Beechmere, everyone thought she would wind down a bit but she still loved her bingo nights, cabaret nights and she became a member of the choir. She loved to watch Love Island on tv and was disappointed when she didn’t get the lead role in Mrs. Brown’s Boys!

Bunty’s funeral will take place in Crewe crematorium chapel on Monday 17th December at 10am.

Any donations in Bunty’s memory are for the valuabe work at St Lukes (Cheshire) Hospice
