“Our memories build a special bridge and bring us peace of mind”

Peacefully at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, surrounded by his family, knowing he was loved and cared for, Jack aged 71 years.
The loving husband of Kath, dearest dad of Dawn, Gail and Mark, a devoted grandad of Rebecca, Daniel, Ben and Robyn.
Jack will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all his family and many friends.

Jack was born on 25th October 1946 to proud parents George and Florence, being one of six children. The first school he attended was the orphanage school, followed by West Street Juniors and then on to Ludford Street Boys School. He left school when he was 15 and enrolled as a boy soldier in The Royal Engineers.

He met Kath in the March of 1965 at the LMR Club in Goddard Street, Crewe and a year later – 25th March – they were married at St. Barnabas Church. The reception was at the LMR on the same day as the annual Oxford/Cambridge boat race and the Grand National at Aintree! And Jack’s horse came in first, so it was a bit of a double celebration!

In their early married life they lived in a cottage on Goodwin’s farm, where a year later, Dawn was born in the Barony Hospital. Gail was born in 1971 at the Barony and Mark completed the family, arriving in 1973 at Leighton Hospital. During this time Jack started working for the Dorfold Estate at Acton, living in Hollytree Cottage. The family moved to Crewe in 1976, where they still live today.

Jack retired in c.2003 due to ill health. In 1991 he became a grandparent when Rebecca came into the world, followed a year later by Daniel, in 1996 Ben was born and finally in 1999, Robyn came into the world. He was so, so proud of all his family.

Jack really enjoyed going on holiday with his family, France, Spain, Yugoslavia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece being some of the countries he visited over the years. His main hobby was horse racing, he regularly attended meeting at Chester racecourse.

Jack was a member of the South Cheshire Masonic Lodge and the Rose Croix, raising money for lots of good causes, including the Leighton scanner appeal and various children’s charities.

Jack’s family would like to thank all the renal team at Royal Stoke Hospital, all staff in ward 201 at Royal Stoke, the diabetic tema at Manchester and all friends and family for their support during this sad time.

The funeral Requiem will take place at St Barnabas’ Church, West Street on Tuesday 25th September at 11.15am followed by cremation at Crewe Crematorium.
Donations in Jack’s memory are for the valuable work of The Renal Unit-Royal Stoke and Ward 201 Cancer Unit-Royal Stoke. For any further information please contact our funeral home.
