“Not just today, but a  lifetime through, we will always treasure memories of you”

Kathleen was married to Dennis, and they were together for 67 years. They had two daughters Norma and Karen who married Tim and Phil. Kathleen had three grandchildren Joseph, Kate and Christopher.

Kathleen was born on Sunday 24th February 1935 in Dublin . She had one sister May and four brothers Paddy, Martin, Sean and Tony. Her parents were Martin and Masie Ryan. Kathleen went to a convent school in Dublin, but at a young age her parents passed away, so Kathleen and Tony moved to England to live with her sister May and her husband Norman.

Kathleen worked in Marks and Spencer for a number of years. She was out with her friend at the town hall where she met her future husband Dennis who offered to buy her a drink and the rest is history. They tied the knot on 10th September 1955. Kathleen then went to work at Jimmy Gray’s garage then to the M6 cash and carry as a manageress in the furniture department. She them semi retired and worked at Pool Hall as a House Keeper.

Kathleen enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, music, shopping, going out, and looking after her grandchildren but she enjoyed most of all talking. She enjoyed going on holiday with her family in Menorca, Ireland and Cornwall which we will always have happy memories of. She was a very caring, very independent and a very stubborn lady and she was famous for her sherry with a bit of trifle and her mispronunciation of words.

We would like to thank her niece Anne, her nephew and niece Norman and Avis, her nieces Claire and Michelle, her nephew Paul and his partner Marie, Shirley her neighbour and the carers who looked after her in the last few months, also the excellent care she received from the staff on ward 3 at Leighton Hospital.

Kathleen was always good fun to be around. She enjoyed life to the full. Kathleen was a fantastic mum. Nan, Auntie, sister and sister in law and friend. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

We’re going to miss that mischievous smile and the wicked sense of humour.
There was never a chance of running out of things to chat about.
She was a loyal friend and a great listener. Avis and I will miss our visits listening to the family saga.
However, the world stopped and started with her family to whom she was utterly devoted.

Look out Uncle Den she’s on her way. xxx

My darling auntie Kath, my favourite and our Queen of trifle. I can’t even begin to imagine what we will do without you. There isn’t many people who are lucky to be blessed with a great auntie who is more like another grandmother. But you were to me and always will be. I will miss you enormous amounts, and feel lucky to have shared so many special and wonderful times with you and Uncle Den. Rest your dancing feet now my angel, give a great big kiss to our other angels and don’t let my Nana boss you around too much. Until we are all together again xxx your Claire xxx
Ps: Conor misses you too, you can watch over him now and laugh at his mischief xx

I am so proud to say that my Auntie Kath was my godmother, on the day of my baptism, she certainly took her promises seriously.
Where do I start with the memories. Perhaps one of my earliest memories was going to stay with her when I was not very old. It was great! I could get dirty, my precious mum didn’t like me getting dirty! The holidays in Ireland, when we were children, and when we were older. Going to Uncle Tony’s funeral in Amsterdam ( I wonder if the authorities ever forgot us). Taking her shopping (I’ll only be five minutes), two hours later still in the same shop!
Most of all as I grew older and life threw some spanner’s in the works, she was always there. Especially when my precious mum was very poorly.
It’s hard to imagine life without her, but I couldn’t be selfish and wish her still to be here. She fought the good fight, the one who the medical staff called the Iron Lady.
I hope heaven is everything that you used to say it would be, you are all together again now.
Look after her god, rest in peace.

I honestly am not sure what to say other than the world has lost one of the best and the heavens have gained you xx
You had so much time to give someone – one of the most selfless, caring people I’ve ever had the pleasure to be around – the world was certainly brighter for you being it.

I’m going to miss talking to you so much xxx

All my love Michelle, Matt, Jess, Lotte, Grace & Hannah
