Marion Jones

"What though the radiance which was once so bright, be now forever taken from my sight."

Date passed: 29th of December 2019

Funeral date: 16th of January 2020

“What thought the radiance once so bright, be now forever taken from my sight.”

Marion sadly passed away on 29th December, aged 88 years in the care of Leighton Hospital, knowing that she was loved.

The beloved wife of  Peter, they were together for 74 years. Loving mother of Diane, Clive, Barry and Mark. Devoted granny of Adam, Sally, Andrew, Beth and Megan and cherished great granny of Josh, James, Alisha, Amelia, Hallam, Gretal and Idris. Also a loving sister of Barbara, the late Peter, the late Les and Alan. Marion will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Born on Thursday 21st May 1931 to proud parents David and Edna May in Stretford, Manchester the family soon moved to Crewe where Marion attended West Street and Ludford Street schools. After her education she worked for CWS Clothing and County Clothes.

A couple of her hobbies reflected her career, as she loved knitting and cross stitching. She also enjoyed doing crosswords and jigsaws.

In their younger days Marion and Peter loved going camping and later on going on coach trips.

Marion was a lady that knew her own mind. If she liked you she would give you the world but you certainly knew about it if she didn’t take a shine to you!

Marion’s funeral will take place on Thursday 16th January in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 10.45am, followed by cremation.

To me she was Auntie Marion. Always there when needed, very good to me when I was growing up, my Mum’s best friend – and I was never left in any doubt as to what she thought. I am so sorry she has died – but I am so very glad that she lived. I will remember with love. David.

I regret not visiting you often enough but am so glad we came to see you on the 27th and brought Mum along to say an ‘unspoken’ adieu, speak a few words and kiss you one last time. You were a special aunty who I am told I was scared of as a little girl! I am happy to have had you in my life and of latter times regarded you as the ‘replacement’ gran (a matriarch figure) we all knew and loved. Night night sleep tight xxx
