Maureen Audrey Frow

"She died as she lived with love and grace"

Date passed: 19th of March 2018

Funeral date: 9th of April 2018

“She died as she lived with love and grace”

Maureen passed peacefully away at Leighton Hospital on the 19th March. The beloved wife of the late Brian, much loved mum to David. Also cherished nana to Victoria, Paul and Laura. Maureen’s funeral will take place on Monday 9th April at 11.20am in the crematorium chapel, Crewe. Donations are welcome in memory of Maureen to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Maureen was born on the 13th February 1932 in Grimsby, the second child of Mabel, after her brother Keith. Her father was a trawler-man, away at sea for long periods of time. She was a delicate baby, not expected to survive, so frail that the doctor visited every day and her mother had to carry her around on a pillow to protect her from pain.

The family lived with Mabel’s father and he was the light of young Maureen’s life, making her a doll’s house and ride-on-car and taking her to the allotment to help with growing vegetables. Maureen was devoted to her mother, who sadly died when Maureen was only 19. She was working as a hairdresser and in her spare time enjoyed walking with the local rambling club, where she met her future husband, Brian.

They moved to Manchester when their only son, David was six months old and then on to Nantwich. Maureen enjoyed keep-fit and badminton and worked with the Royal Lifeboat Institute and Cancer Research raising funds for both organisations. After moving to Wistaston, she became a member of the U3A and enjoyed the weekly art classes, being a talented watercolourist.

Maureen was nana to Victoria, Paul and Laura and also to Gracie, the lurcher who loved visits to nana which involved many tasty treats and cuddles. Despite becoming increasingly frail she managed to stay in her own home in Woodside Avenue, supported by David and the carers from Valley Wood until the last few weeks of her life in Leighton Hospital.
