William Carr ‘Sid’

You will stay with us in our dreams

Date passed: 9th of November 2017

Funeral date: 22nd of November 2017

“You will stay with us in our dreams”

Sid passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 9th November aged 85 years.

Sid has not been well for some time and his passing is a very sad loss to all his family and friends.

Sid was born in Ettiley Heath on 22nd May 1932 . He was the youngest of 7 children. He started work, aged 14 years as an apprentice fitter where he served for 40 years, the only break being for National Service in his early 20’s.

Sid was an avid Crewe Alex supporter all his life, a keen fisherman and cricket umpire. Along with his great sense of humour, he loved to sing and was known for his rendition of “The Big Black Candy Mountain” at a quiz evening.

Sid and Brenda met while dancing at one of the dance halls in Crewe. After marrying at St. John’s Church and later moving to Walthall Street, daughters Hazel and Elizabeth were born. The house was always full of fun and friends were always welcome as he enjoyed entertaining and cooking, especially curries.

Although divorced, Sid and Brenda remained good friends, Brenda having moved in next door. Sid went on to meet Jose, where they enjoyed trips to Canada and all over the UK together, even canvassing for the Labour party.

In 2006 Sid lost his daughter Hazel to cancer which was a massive blow to him for many years.

Sid was a gentleman, he was laid back and unassuming. He had no maliciousness about him at all. He was fun-loving, kind, hardworking, always smiling and was quite handy at DIY. Sid was also very good at looking after and helping other people out in life.

Sid’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 22nd November at 10.40am in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe.
