Sandy passed away in his own home surrounded by the love and care of his family on Tuesday 8th October, aged 79 years.

The devoted father of David and Karen, cherished grandad of Scott, Daniel, Lauren, Ethan and Tom and great grandad of Georgia. Also a loving brother of Hilda. Sandy will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all his family and friends.

Born on Tuesday 24th October 1939 in Newton Stewart, Dumfriesshire to proud parents Annie and Noel. The family soon moved south and a young Sandy attended Weston Infant School and Manor Road Senior School in Nantwich. On leaving school at 15 years of age he joined Crewe Works where he worked all his life, till his retirement aged 60.

Sandy was a keen boxer and swimmer. He also enjoyed a game of snooker and bowls. He loved gardening and spent many a time in his shed. He also loved fixing up cars. He loved his holidays, especially back up to Scotland and also to Cornwall and Wales.

He was a quiet, gentle man with a great sense of humour and was extremely proud of his Scottish roots.

Sandy’s funeral will take place on Friday 18th October in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 3.20pm, followed by cremation.

Donations in memory of Sandy will be gratefully received on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

    To David and Karen, I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad, I still remember those fun times in Bray Close! Especially when England played Scotland at football. Unfortunately I am away this weekend so I cannot come on Friday, best wishes Shaun.
