"There is no night without the dawn. No winter without the spring."

Date passed: 22nd of February 2020

Funeral date: 6th of March 2020

“There is no night without the dawn, no winter without the spring.”

Alf sadly passed away on the 22nd February in the care of Church House Nursing Home in Nantwich, aged 71 years.

Beloved husband of the late Irene. Loving father of Jason and Sarah. Cherished grandad of Aaron, Taya, Liam, Lauren and Lucy. Devoted great grandad of Molly-Ann, Ava-Marie, Alfie, Ruby, Freya and Ava. Also a dear brother of Sandra. “Smarty” as he was affectionately known will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered by all his family and friends.

Alf was born in Crewe on Saturday 29th January 1949 to proud parents Alf and Elizabeth. He attended Ludford Street school and after his education he had a variety of jobs, including Crewe Works, Rolls Royce, Mountain Range, The Post Office, Leighton Hospital and was the functions manager at Crewe Alexandra.

He was a very good footballer, he played for Crewe Alex reserves and also played cricket for Rolls Royce and Crewe Vagrants.

Alf loved his holidays, Kos being a favourite destination, sometimes spending up to four weeks at a time there!

Smarty was a fun, loving and kind hearted man with a dry sense of humour, always putting others before himself

His funeral will take place on Friday 6th March in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 11.30am, followed by cremation.

Donations in memory of Alf will be gratefully received on behalf of the British Heart Foundation.

Will miss the “legend” Alfie a friend for over 50 years. Although we only met occasionally on our visits to Crewe it was as if we met yesterday. Always smiling and ready with one of his dry quips. RIP.
