Peacefully in the care of Leighton Hospital, Bernard passed away on the 31st January, aged 82 years.
The beloved son of the late John and Florence. Bernard was also a dear brother, a cherished uncle and good friend to many people, especially in the Hop Pole where he was a regular.
Born in Crewe he attended St Mary’s RC School and St Joseph’s College achieving 3 ‘O’ levels, he worked for many years as a telegraph and telecoms operator for London Midland Railway.
Bernard loved his pets and kept both cats and dogs, he enjoyed watching ‘action’ films and listening to country and western music, and visited Jersey often for a holiday.
He has been a life member of the Hop Pole Bowling club where he maintained the green and was also a member of the darts and dominoes team. Th Hope Pole was where his social life was centred.
Bernard will be so fondly remembered and sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Bernard’s funeral will take place in the Chapel at Crewe Cemetery on Friday 23rd February at 1.20pm followed by burial in Crewe Cemetery. Any donations will be greatly received for Macmillan Nurses in Bernard’s memory.
