Brenda Perry

A daily thought, a silent tear. A constant wish that you were here.

Date passed: 10th of December 2017

Funeral date: 5th of January 2018

A daily thought, a silent tear. A constant wish that you were here.

Peacefully at rest on the 10th December at Leighton Hospital, Brenda aged 87 years.

The beloved wife of the late Bas, a much loved mum of David, Kathleen, Hazel, Jennifer, Karen and Marie. Also a cherished nana of Erica, Ursula, Kirstie, Katrina, Leigh, Lorna, Karl, Andrea, Mandy, Tracy, Graham, Julie-Anne, Jamie, Stephen, Richard, Aimee, Chloe, Kyle, Damian, Kristian, Ben and Sam. Great-nana of Robert, Ethan, Kaitlyn, Hayley, Rory, Tabitha, Amelia, Sam, Ben, Jack, Georgia, Hayden, Ella, Alex, Natasha, Tyler, Ethan, William and Louie and great, great nana of Amber and Sophie, who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all her family and friends.

Brenda was born in Rode Heath near Stoke-on-Trent and attended the local school in Rode Heath and also Sunday school at the local Methodist Church. She adored her mother Alice and father Fredrick and had one brother and four sister’s who she loved very much.

After school Brenda had several jobs, including housekeeper, making clothes and silk at Conlow’s in Sandbach, chambermaid at the Old Hall in Sandbach and cleaner at the George pub. She also was a machinist at Foden’s where she met her good friend Glenda and was a night care assistant at CLS-Cedar’s in Holmes Chapel which she found very rewarding looking after the elderly. Mostly though she was a Housewife and mother.

Family holidays were very important to Brenda, many trips were had to Butlin’s camps, travelling around Scotland 3 or 4 times a year in a volkswagen caravanette and Barmouth in Wales. She also enjoyed going abroad, especially to Madeira, Tenerife, Ibiza and Gran Canaria.

Brenda was a telly addict and loved watching Home and Away, Loose Women, Three In A Bed and all the cookery programmes, including Great British Bake Off. She also loved reading and was always up on what was happening in the modern world, following modern trends in what she wore and very knowledgeable on politics. Brenda was a nature lover and loved walking and mountain climbing and took great pride in her garden and all her house plants. She was still very active until recently, regularly playing boisterous games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, in fact the only time the rest of the family got some peace and quiet was when Brenda was reading Catherine Cookson or knitting!

Brenda’s family would like to thank Rochelle, her cleaner, Marcia, her neighbour, Leighton Hospital and the Reverend Shephard at St. Mary’s in Sandbach for all their help and support at this sad time.

Brenda’s funeral will take place at St Mary’s Church, Sandbach on Friday 5th January at 11am followed by cremation at Crewe Crematorium. Any donations in Brenda’s memory are for the valuable work of Alzheimers UK.

To my beautiful Nana, I was your first grandchild and spent a lot of time with both you and grandad growing up. Grandad taught me to play the organ so I think I used to drive you both mad on a weekend when I came over to play it! You have always had a great sense of humour and I have great memories of you playing with my children (your great grandchildren), including a nerf gun war a couple of years ago at my house! You will be greatly missed by all of us, love you so much and will never forget you! Lots of love Andrea, Chris, Amelia, Sam & Ben xxx
