**************************************************************************************************************
Byron Glyn Jones was born in Crewe on 31st March 1955. Byron was raised by Phil & Renee with Brother
Peter. Byron later discovered he had a half-sister, Diane and a half-brother, Stuart.
In 1972 he met his wife Hazel and they fell in love at just 16 years old. They married in 1976 on the 20th
March and have happily married for nearly 47 years.
From 1971 until 1981, Byron worked as a coppersmith in Crewe works where he made some lifelong
friends.
In 1983, Hazel & Byron decided to buy a shop. For once, Byron was actually excited to go to work as he
loved the shop. The shop was his pride and joy for many years until his first daughter Kylee was born on
November 1987 and she was his new pride and joy as Byron was a huge family man.
Those of you that knew Byron well will know he is prone to being a bit of a worrier so on the day that Kylee
was born, the doctors wouldn’t actually let him in the room because he was panicking that much!
Now, most families take their new born babies straight home from the hospital but not Byron & Hazel –
they went straight to their local pub – The Sydney Arms.
In November 1989, they welcomed their second daughter Koral who was a true Daddy’s girl. At night she
would only settle for her dad.
Four years later in August 1994, his son Nyle was born with whom he shared an unbreakable bond with.
The Jones’ 5 family were now complete and Byron would often say “The Jones’ 5 – us against the world”.
Byron and Nyle were best friends and always cherished spending time together; whether it be watching the
cricket, watching Spurs play or just having a pint at The Cosey Club.
There was nothing more important to him than family. Byron’s favourite memories were the family
holidays they would all go on. People used to think he and Hazel were mad taking three young children on
long haul holidays to exotic places like Jamaica every year but that is when Byron was at his happiest and
they made some incredible memories for life.
It wasn’t just family holidays Byron enjoyed: he also liked his lads holiday with ‘The Jolly Boys’ – Johnny
Bloss, Knocker, Flash, Mike and Stuart. Whether it was a weekend away in Blackpool or a few days in
Benidorm, Byron and the lads would be out drinking until the early hours of the mornings despite being in
their sixties!
In August 2017, Byron became a granddad to Lucy O’Keefe. He always said being a dad was the best thing
in life but when Lucy came along, he changed his mind and said that becoming a granddad was even better.
Byron and Lucy would go for walks to the park together just the two of them, to have picnics regularly –
something we know Lucy will truly miss doing with her granddad. He was an extremely proud granddad.
One of Byron’s favourite past times was spending time with friends in the pub, exercising in the gym or
going for nice long walks with his friend Dave Lloyd where they would put the world to rights.
When covid hit in 2020 and no could no longer go the pub, he decided to create his own pub. The Jessop
Arms was created in his own back garden where the family have since enjoyed a few drinks – even in the
snow.
In 2020, Byron and Hazel decided it was time to retire and sell their shop so they could spend more time
with family and go on more luxurious holidays. In October 2021, they enjoyed a big family holiday to one of
their favourite places – Cyprus with Hazel, Kylee, Koral, Nyle, Lucy and his son in law Will, where they
enjoyed countless walks along the beach to their favourite Caribbean inspired bar.
Sadly, they were robbed of their retirement plans – in November 2021, Byron was diagnosed with stage 4
pancreatic cancer and after a short battle; he passed away on 28th February at home. Byron knew his time
was coming to an end and he called the family the night before so that they could be with him. The ‘Jones’
5’ were luckily enough to enjoy one last glass of wine with Byron and toast to his life.
May he rest in peace.
To Hazel,
