"As long as we live, he too will live. For he is now a part of us, as we remember him"
Date passed: 11th of February 2018

“As long as we live, he too will live. For he is now a part of us, as we remember him.”
David passed away peacefully in Bentley Manor care home on 11th February 2018, aged 89 years.
The beloved husband of Pam and dearest dad of Stephen and Ian.
Born in Sandbach, David was the youngest of nine. Following his school years he worked for ERF before spending time in the RAF working on Spitfires and Meteor’s.
After being demobbed he returned to ERF before moving to Rolls Royce in the road testing department.
He and Pam met at the Astoria Ballroom and married in 1955 at St Barnabas’ Church in Crewe.
They welcomed their first child Stephen in 1959 followed by Ian in 1962.
He taught the boys to be frugal with money as a result of his own childhood, he was very careful where money and expenditure were concerned.
He shared in the boys interests and would often drive them to places where they could fly their model aeroplanes. Despite one of them flying into him and giving him a nasty bruise, he travelled the police stations of Cheshire on one occasion to try and retrieve a flyaway model aeroplane.
David eventually retired from Rolls Royce after taking voluntary redundancy and he and Pam enjoyed travelling to see as much of the world as they could including coach tours in the UK. Venice, Cyprus and Germany seemed to be particular memorable and enjoyable trips.
David had a stroke over a year ago and has suffered the effects of Alzheimers over the last few years. He was lovingly cared for at Bentley Manor Care home in whose care he died peacefully.
David’s funeral will take place on Thursday 22nd February at 1.20pm in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe.
Family flowers only please. Donations made in David’s memory will be kindly received for St. Luke’s Cheshire Hospice.
