Dennis Bickerton (Den)
"Our memories build a special bridge and bring us peace of mind"
Date passed: 2nd of April 2019
Funeral date: 12th of April 2019
“Our memories build a special bridge and bring us peace of mind.”
Dennis sadly passed away on 2nd April 2019 in the care of Leighton Hospital, aged 80 years.
The beloved husband of Susan. Devoted father of Julie, Tracey and Neil. Also a cherished grandad to Ben, Thomas, Becky, Tricia, Katie, Neil and Jack and great grandad to Isla, Katherine, Alexander and Kiale.
Den was born on Wednesday 1st June 1938 in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. He was one of five siblings.
After leaving school he signed up with the Royal Navy in 1955 and served with them for nine years, he then served for a year with the Merchant Navy.
He married Susan on 7th September 1968.
After serving in the Navy he worked, amongst other jobs, for the Gas Board and at Midland Rollermakers, where he retired at the age of 61 as a Furnace Operator.
He had plenty of hobbies to keep him occupied. He enjoyed woodwork, fretwork, D.I.Y. and gardening. He also enjoyed a good crime novel. But he really loved spoiling Susan, especially with anything that caught her eye! And, of course, all the grandchildren and great grandchildren kept him busy too!
Dennis will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all his family and everyone who knew him.
His funeral will take place on Friday 12th April in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 12.40pm, followed by cremation.

Dad you maybe gone but NEVER forgotten, you will always hold that special place in my heart. Love you always, Tracey xxxxxxxxxxx
- Approved by oconnellGrandad, where do I even start… You were the most amazing grandad anyone could wish for. You were even my ‘dad’ for a short while. I remember rambling and ribbles and I remember you telling me that I’m brilliant at everything apart from drawing and singing!! How rude! You supported me and were always there when I needed you, from a tiny girl to the grown woman and mum I am today. Thank you for everything you did in life and thank you for the cherished memories I hold in my heart. Real superheroes don’t wear capes, grandad, because you were definitely mine. Until we meet again…
Love you to the moon and back (or to the comets that we looked for many times but never found), Becky, Craig, Isla, Katherine and Alexander xxxxx
