Eric Melvyn Adams “Ace”

“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.”

Eric passed away peacefully on 9th January at Leighton Hospital with his family at his side, aged 72 years. Much loved Dad of Daniel and Lisa who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Born on 15th August 1951, Ace was one of two boys born to his parents
Eric and Lillian and spent his childhood growing up in Alsager . We are
joined today by Ace’s brother Peter, who I had the pleasure of meeting
here last week, and I extend my condolences to you.
His working life was varied including time spent with the National Gas
Board – but he was not a fan of working out of doors in all weathers
digging holes so he moved to .
work at Radway Green, which was certainly a better environment, before
he joined the Railway, working as a shunter in Crewe Works until he was
made redundant in 1992.
Ace met and married Kim in the 1970’s and although life didn’t follow the
route they had planned they have always remained friends as they were
blessed with two children Daniel and Lisa. As a young family whilst they
didn’t manage to have foreign holidays there were one or two
memorable ones spent camping. Whilst holidaying in Penzance and
having a brilliant fun filled time Aces’ dad put him forward for a
horseshoe pitching contest, which against all the odds Ace won, the
prize being a free week at the same camp in October to play in the
finals, the return vist wasn’t as successful as it rained all week and he
didn’t win the final. The next holiday followed the same theme, while on
a camping trip to Wales in his brothers tent it also rained consistently
and resulted in going home early and that ended the camping
adventures , but these trips and memories were laughed about for many
years. He did however manage to get at least one sunny trip flying to
Turkey with friends. He loved his children very much and became a
grandad with the safe arrival of Lisa’s son Jayden in 2008. He was very
proud of his children and everything they did,
Ace enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables, he had an allotment at one
time to allow him the space to expand the range of produce he grew. He
also tended his mum’s garden in Alsager, tomatoes were one of his
favourite and he also grew them in pots and baskets in his garden . He
had a great knowledge of gardening which he shared with anyone who
asked.
He had done a bit of fishing in his time, he liked to follow the horses,
their form & enjoyed a bet or two now and again he also enjoyed
watching his favourite football team Liverpool on the television.

His funeral will take place at 10am on Thursday 26th January  at Crewe Crematorium.

Family Flowers only please.
