Frederick Nightingale

Fred passed away peacefully in the care of Daneside Court Care Home, Northwich on 8th June 2022 aged 92 years.

The beloved husband of the late Patricia. Devoted dad of Susan. Cherished grandad to Ryan and Shane and great grandad to Sienna and Ellie and Dorian and Brace.

Remembering Dad

Dad was a hardworking kind man and a True Gentleman.  A truly unique, caring and living Dad, Granddad and Great Granddad. We remember his voluntary work, alongside me in my teaching role, assisting Maori and Pasifika students in their learning. Dad loved the outdoors and was a member of a walking club in NZ. In Dad’s youth he was an enthusiastic cyclist. He won many trophies with a Cheshire club and was a member for 40 years of the VTTA, the Veterans Time Trials Association. Dad was a modest man who once told me he hadn’t done much in his life. Evacuated as a 10 year old, Dad stayed on with the childless couple, already in their 50s, who took him in. He became the son they would have wished for. On their passing, Dad commissioned a beautiful stone which lies in Romaldkurk at their final resting place.

Dad was a regular visitor to New Zealand and is sadly missed by his loving family here. We will light candles in remembrance of Granddad Fred and Great Granddad Fred and we will all share our many memories of Dad’s six months spent here, every other year for 20 years.
