“Memories are precious, they don’t go away. We think of you always and not just today.”
Geoff passed away peacefully in the care of Leighton hospital on 9th August, aged 83 years.
The beloved husband of Audrey, loving father of Gaynor and the late Denise and also a dearest grandad. He will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all his family and friends.
Geoff was born on Tuesday 22nd October 1935 in Broad Street, Crewe to parents Edith and Clifford. He attended Ludford Street School and upon leaving he joined the Royal Navy. After leaving he also worked for the Post Office and drove a H.G.V all over Ireland, finally retiring aged 63.
At the age of 14 he met a certain young lady at school who would go on to become his wife and soul mate, Audrey.
Geoff spent 14 years in the navy, he loved every minute of it. He travelled around the world on various ships and enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow shipmates. Over these 14 years and sometimes after one drink too many Geoff adorned his body with many nautical inspired tattoos.
He loved going to watch Crewe Alex and was partial to a drop of whisky. He was a member of the Royal Navy Association all his life, going to many conventions all over the country. He loved holidaying in Corfu, Cyprus and Tenerife, he ended up becoming known as “Tenerife Geoff” because of his love for the place. He was described by his family as a brave but an easy going person.
His funeral will take place on Friday 23rd August in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 10am, followed by cremation.
Donations in memory of Geoff will be gratefully received on behalf of the Royal Navy Association.
