Jacqueline Jenkin “Jackie”

"It's all our memories that will keep you near."

Date passed: 22nd of September 2018

Funeral date: 5th of October 2018

“It’s all our memories that will keep you near.”

Peacefully, on 22nd September, in the loving care of her family, aged 57 years.

Jackie, the loving wife of the late Sam. Much loved mum of Daniel and Vicky. Cherished nana of Levi, Luke, Billy, Leila, Olly, Lacey and Poppy.

Born on Thursday 19th January 1961 in Stockport to parents Archie and Wendy, Jackie was one of three children with a sister Karen, and brother Paul.

She attended Millfields Primary School then Jacksons Lane High School, both in Hazel Grove, once eating a tub of margarine to make herself sick so she didn’t have to go!

When she was young, Jackie and her sister Karen once trashed a hotel room in Llandudno, probably following a squabble. As teenagers she would fight over the use of the bathroom with her sister.

Whilst growing up, Jackie had an imaginary friend called Jinks and would tease her sister and maker her jealous when playing games with Jinks!

As a young lady, she liked to disco and frequented a club called ‘Gladrags’, she enjoyed all the latest hits like the Bay City Rollers, T Rex, David Essex and David Cassidy and would buy their albums and play them very loudly on her record player.

Jackie met her first husband when aged 15 and they were married and had two children, Dan in 1981 and Vikki in 1991 when they moved from Stockport to Crewe.

Jackie attended a flower arranging course and ended up working at Sainsbury’s where she met many of her friends.

Her first marriage lasted 21 years, however, through working at Sainsbury’s she met Sam and they married in 2004 and spent their honeymoon on the Island of Tenerife.

When Jackie left Sainsbury’s she took on a couple of cleaning jobs in local schools and was thrilled when she became the grandmother of Levi, Luke, Billy, Leila, Olly, Lacey and Poppy.

Jackie loved spending time with them especially during the school holidays.

Not long before her diagnosis, she was working as a midday assistant at Vine Tree Primary School, and enjoyed her coach holidays with Sam, Wendy and Archie, also going cruising with Sam. She loved her days out with her family and would often sit giggling at some of the stories she’d heard or jokes that she’d heard.

She was very much supported by family and friends throughout her illness along with various cancer support groups. The staff at the Christie along with district nurses and carers were fantastic in their dedication especially in Jackie’s final days.

Jackie’s funeral will take place on Friday 5th October in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 12noon, followed by cremation.

Donations in Jackie’s memory will be gratefully received on behalf of St. Luke’s Hospice.

Jackie was my best friend when we both moved to new homes in Wistaston. First met Jackie when taking our kids to Wistaston Berkley school and we stayed friends despite us moving to Southampton. She was also god mum to our youngest daughter and has kept in touch with all three of our kids via facebook. So sad she has gone so soon, will always remember her fondly. RIP now with Sam. X
