“We are so proud of you, we will miss you forever.”

Jim passed away peacefully in the care of Leighton Hospital on 13th November aged 80 years knowing he was loved and cared for by his family.

The devoted dad of Nigel, Vanessa, Emily and Jessica. Cherished grandpa of Ethan, Annie, Saffron and Arthur. Also a loving father-in-law and good friend who will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jim was born on Sunday 2nd April 1939 to proud parents Henry and Emily in Accrington. At school he excelled at sport, particularly athletics, the high jump and long jump were his favourite events.

He moved to Crewe in 1965 where he started work at the vets surgery on Edleston Road, then known as Shirley and Strang, then Strang and Baron before finally being known as Baron and Johnson, working there until his retirement.

In his spare time he enjoyed watching Crewe Alex, loved a game of dominoes and also enjoyed hockey and cricket. He was part of the social group for the hockey team at Crewe Vagrants. He also enjoyed cooking and rock music. For his 70th birthday he went to see AC/DC!

He was a very sociable, reliable and helpful gentleman, he got on with everyone. Very kind hearted, compassionate and non judgemental.

Jim’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 26th November in St. Barnabas’ Church, Crewe at 12 noon, followed by cremation at Crewe Crematorium.

I had the pleasure to sit next to Jim at the Alexandra stadium for all Crewe home games over the past few years. He was a great chap and good company. His presence will be sadly missed by the Alex supporters who knew him. Thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
