James Whitlow “Jim”

"You will stay with us in our dreams."

Date passed: 20th of November 2019

Funeral date: 12th of December 2019

“You will stay with us in our dreams.”

Jim sadly passed away in his own home on the 20th November aged 78 years knowing he was loved.

The beloved husband of the late Joyce and dearest partner to Barbara. Much loved dad of Paul, Deb, Mandy, Paul and Tracey. Cherished grandad of Danielle, Leanne, Amanda, Daniel, Samantha, Melissa, James, Shannon, Emma, Alex and Chloe. Devoted great grandad of Myla, Ezmai and Oliver. Also a loving brother of Brian, Jean, Dorothy, Rita and Phil and a good friend to many. Jim will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him.

Born on Saturday 1st November 1941 in Chester to proud parents Gertrude and Ted, Jim attended the schools of Christ Church, All Saints and Overly Secondary.

Jim had several jobs during his working life, he had a newspaper round, delivering the Echo, he was a cobbler, he had a milk round, eventually getting a promotion to Express Dairies in Crewe as a manager. He also drove for Atkinson’s Haulage and for Mornflake before working in the offices there. He eventually took his well earned retirement in 2006.

In his spare time he enjoyed a game of cards, darts and a round of golf. Favourite holiday destination was North Wales, in particular Talacre, Rhyl and Barmouth. Also further afield to Spain, Pefkos, Cyprus and Portugal.

Jim was a true gentleman and although he could be strict, particular and sometimes pompous he was a loving and caring family man.

The family would like to thank all friends, neighbours and family for their sympathy and support at this difficult time.

Jim’s funeral will take place on Thursday 12th December in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 12.15pm, followed by cremation.

Donations in Jim’s memory will be gratefully received on behalf of MacMillan nurses.

A true gentleman and ‘my twin’ as we shared the same birthday. I had the pleasure of knowing Jim at Mornflake…one of a kind.

My grandad, I love you so much I really can’t put it in to words. You and grandma were like my parents growing up, I stayed at yours nearly every weekend. We would sit in the kitchen making our model planes nearly all day and I don’t think grandma was too happy, aha. I’m sorry for putting the Michael Jackson moonwalker tape on about 5 times in a row when you wanted to watch your soaps. Or having to sneak past you with my bottle before bed every night. You looked after me so much and I couldn’t be more grateful. I love you grandad and I always will! Forever in my heart ♥ xx
