Jane Russett

“You will always rest in our hearts”

Jane was the loving mum of Elliott and also a cherished daughter, partner and sister who will be so sadly missed by all her family & friends.

Aged just 45 years, Jane passed away surrounded by her family on 17th October 2020.

Her funeral will take place on Wednesday 4th November 2020.

A much-loved daughter to Shirley and the late Syd, a devoted mum to Elliott who
attributes everything he is today to his mum.
Jane was much loved by all who had the pleasure of having her in their lives. Her
beloved sisters Susan and Carol, brothers Steve, Peter, Paul, Terry and Dave. She
was a dear sister in law to Elaine, Steve, Cally, Lisa, Dawn, Sam and the late
Dennis, an auntie, cousin, niece and good friend to many.

Jane was born on 1 st August 1975, the youngest of eight and I believe Dave was
nearer to Jane in age than the rest of the old folk! She lived at Capesthorn Road in
Wistaston with her family until she left home in her late teens to attend catering
college in Southport. A childhood friend sent her condolences and wrote: “I loved
going to stay with Jane, the family home was always full of fun and laughter.”
After Jane left Southport, she had a short spell in Blackpool working as a chef then
returned to Crewe where she met Nick. Looking for new opportunities, she and Nick
moved to London to stay with his family and helped on their stalls in Camden Market.
They didn’t find fame and fortune, but Jane always spoke fondly about her their time
in London together.
Not long after she and Nick returned to Crewe, Jane gave birth to her gorgeous little
boy, Elliott. I gather they moved a couple of times and of course, Elliott has no
recollection of his early years until well after they settled at Moreton Road; he told
me both he and his mum had many fond memories of living there. They had some
memorable family holidays and one in particular resonated with Elliott when they
went to Perranporth around 2001.
After several years together, Jane and Nick separated but then Jane turned the page
to another chapter in life when she met Malc. She never turned her back on Nick
and to their credit, they remained friends but that was Jane, incredibly selfless, she
always considered other people’s feelings, she was always willing to help anyone in
need of support and extremely generous with her time and love.
Elliott recalls Malc telling him that with Jane, he felt ‘at home’, she taught him how to
feel real emotion, he was with Jane for around twelve years and although they broke
up in 2015, they too stayed close.
I gather although Jane trained as a chef, she had a variety of jobs throughout her
working life. She worked at the Royal Mail, then she was a cook at Redsands and
the Barony. Jane then became a manager at a charity shop in Nantwich for a few
years, she donned her chef’s apron again at Lincoln House and worked alongside
Malc at the Peacock for a year.

Elliott remembers in 2004, he and his mum flew abroad for the first time with his nan
and grandad. They enjoyed a fabulous holiday together in Tenerife. The whole
experience started as they all checked into Manchester airport and their excitement
continued until they landed back home.
He also remembers how Jane enjoyed herself when she visited Malc’s family in
Polperro. Despite being a nervous driver Jane, drove all the way down to Cornwall,
the furthest she had ever dared go and had a really good time.
As we were chatting about holidays, Dave recalled the good times he and Jane had
in their youth, they went to Talacre Beach, Pontins at Prestatyn and Blackpool.

He smiled as he told us he and
Jane spent hours in Jungle Jim’s whilst their mum and dad graced the dancefloor in
the Tower Ballroom.

Jane often used to rely on her brothers for a lift home from Hanley after a night out
with her friends, it was Pete who usually obliged.
Jane loved dogs, she was devoted to her dog Shirley, and was devastated when she
died. They are now on their journey together, side by side.
