***************************************************************************************************************************************

Born in Crewe on 15th February 1941 Janet was one of four children,
with her brother Terry and sisters Hazel and Barbara life revolved
around the family home in Pedley Street. They were a strong unit and
always looked out for one another. Sadly, her sisters have predeceased
her, and it is at times like this that we all stop and think tor hope, that
maybe, just maybe there will be a way in which they can be reunited in
spirit to continue their walk once more.
Having left school Janet started work in one of the many clothing
factories across the town, she would later work at the M6 Cash and
Carry, she ended her busy and full working life retiring from Station
House where she was a carer. It was a job she loved and one she never
really wanted to leave.
As a young woman Janet loved socialising and there were plenty of
dances and clubs and cinemas across the town for her and her friends
to take advantage of.
Janet and Seamus met over 60 years ago, they courted and were
married. They were blessed with five children; Susan, Sharon, and
Tracy, John and Darren – sadly they would lose their boys in infancy but
those little boys have never been forgotten.
Life doesn’t always go the way we would like it to and Janet and
Seamus would part and go their own ways, but they have always
remained in contact because of the children.
As children, Susan, Sharon and Tracy remember taking holidays in
chalets, and apartments in many North Wales seaside towns. In later life
Janet and her family would take holidays abroad, enjoying adventures in
resorts like Tenerife.
For a number of years Janet would travel on coach tours and holiday
trips with her friends Phyllis and Stan, and who could forget the Turkey
and Tinsel celebrations which she enjoyed greatly, joined by her dear
friend Pam.
An avid reader Janet embraced the technology of a kindle to enable her
to read, wherever she was. She could devour a hefty book in a matter of
days. She would arrive at Kevin and Sharon’s house with a list of books
she wanted to read and Kevin would download them for her – then she
would hand him the cash, always exact to the penny, that was how she
was brought up – never a borrower or lender be!

But if she didn’t have the right money, no one would benefit from this, no
– she would sit and wait for Kevin to get the change in put it firmly in her
hand.
Puzzle books and word searches were a welcome distraction and a way
to pass some time every day, often she would request the next issue
before she had finished the one she was working in to ensure there was
always something for her to do, these simple activities teamed up with a
crossword on a Sunday were simple, but wonderfully enjoyable
pleasures for Janet.
Her television choices were the soaps and comedy shows – Janet had a
dry and stinging wit, the banter she and Kevin had with one another
could look and sound cruel but it was always done in the best of humour.
She was an accomplished knitter and when the children were small, they
all benefitted from her handy work receiving Janet created a work
jumper – Kevin had a works jumper made for him!
Her real passion was live theatre, she loved to visit and watch any
performances but in truth Janet enjoyed musical theatre the most and
especially the works of Lloyd Webber. The stories and the music, the
costumes and the celebrity performers all came together and created a
magical experience, such that she spoke of them all very fondly. Her
favourites were Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserable – which she
had watched on film – all three and a half hours of it! She had listened to
the soundtrack on CD many, many, times and delighted in the spectacle
of the live theatre show. It was her escape, her time away from reality in
a way and she loved it.
Janet was a strong willed and determined woman. Nick- named the Iron
Lady she had lived through much and come out the other side bruised
but smiling, even when she lost her home in the Beechmere Fire she
was able to move on and try and make a new home, but the traumatic
events of that night still plagued her memory. She was a popular
member of the Beechmere family, the staff enjoyed her unbending
nature and often spent time with her just putting the world to rights. After
the fire she moved to Belong in Crewe, making new friends and enjoying
her usual banter with the staff – who helped to keep spirits up during the
initial COVID lockdown.
Most recently at Turnpike Court the care and compassion shown to
Janet at her end of life was truly wonderful. The family would like to send

heartfelt thanks to all who have helped Janet recently and over the
years.
She was a loving and generous mother, inspirational in the devotion and
care she gave to her family. Janet was the matriarch of her family and
she breathed life, love and heart into all their activities. Her sociable
character made sure that everyone was made welcome, never judging
and always being open to the needs of others.
She worked hard all of her life to ensure that her family’s needs were
met and that she could give them everything they required to grow and
flourish.
Her infectious smile and playful nature ensured that there was always a
lot of laughter in her home and an abundance of love. A person of
simple tastes and a gentle outlook on life. That’s not to say she didn’t
voice her opinions on things which she considered to be wrong or unfair!

May she rest in peace.
