Janet Twigg
"What though the radiance which was once so bright, be now forever taken from my sight."
Date passed: 8th of December 2019
Funeral date: 23rd of December 2019
“What thought the radiance which was once so bright, be now forever taken from my sight.”
Janet sadly passed away in the care of Leighton Hospital on the 8th December aged 79 years surrounded by her family, knowing she was loved and cared for. The beloved wife John. Devoted mum of Denise, Graham and Mandy. Cherished nanny of Ben, Jade, Nicole, Scott, Dean, Lee, Natalie, Stephanie, Natasha, Connor, Daniel and Domonic. Caring great nanny of Leo, Owen, Jaxon, Tom, Jacob, Jack, Bobby, Billy, Holly, Tommy, Joshua, Bailey, Oliver and Charlie. Also a loving sister of Christine and Raema. Janet will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all her family and friends.
Janet was born on Tuesday 10th November 1940 in Derby. She met her future husband John at a local dance hall in Derby and they spent the next 60 wonderful years together. They moved to Crewe in 1968.
While being a housewife and full-time mum Janet also worked at Crewe and Alsager college, being part of the kitchen staff. She also worked for Bargain Booze.
Janet loved line dancing and her and John were members of the Polish Club in West Street. When that closed down they became members of the Crosville Club. She would often be found in there on a Wednesday afternoon selling bingo tickets.
When the children were younger they spent many holidays, especially in a seven berth caravan in Mablethorpe, near Skegness. Later in life Janet and John would holiday abroad with friends Keith and Hazel. They bought another caravan and went to Tenby regularly. They also went on a Mediterranean cruise.
Janet had a beautiful voice and when the family got together for a sing song they called themselves the “Von Twiggs”, using biscuit tins as drums and other various items for instruments!
Janet’s main priority, though, was always her family and close friends. She spoilt the children and grand children and when there were sweets and goodies to give out all the children in the neighbourhood were included in the hand out! She had a heart of gold and never judged anyone, always seeing the good in anyone.
Janet’s funeral will take place on Monday 23rd December in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 1pm, followed by cremation.
Family flowers only please but donations in memory of Janet will be gratefully received on behalf of the Stroke Association.
