‘ A light from our household gone. A voice we loved is still.
After a brave fight, Jean passed peacefully away on 11th January at St Luke’s Hopsice, aged 86 years. The dearest wife of the late Ronnie, much loved mother of John, Gary and Lee. Also a cherished Nana of Lyndsy, Danielle and Ashlee, Nana Jean of Isla and Evie and loving sister of Brian.
Jean will be so sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Jean’s funeral will take place on Monday 22nd January at 3.20pm in the crematorium chapel, Crewe, followed by cremation. Donations are welcome in memory of Jean to St Luke’s.
Jean was born in Crewe, leaving school and going to work as a seamstress at Rolls Royce.
She joined the navy as an engineer where she met her future husband Ronnie. After the navy they returned to Ronnie’s roots in Co. Durham where they ran several pubs and clubs.
Jean and Ronnie divorced and Jean returned to Crewe, eventually her sons John, Gary and Lee joined her.
Locally she will be known for running the bar a the Police Force Training Centre. She loved her work there and put her heart and soul into it, being very popular, making many friends and memories.
Jean enjoyed the company of her family more than anything and their good humour gave her many a laugh over the years and saw her through some tough times.
Latterly she has had some health issues, but despite her frailty she managed to get to her granddaughters wedding in the Northeast and walk her down the aisle which made her very proud. She enjoyed her garden, holidays to Turkey (where she had a natural flair for bartering in the markets) and trips to London to see the West End shows.
Jean has always enjoyed good company, and has been an amazing host over the years. A stickler for time-keeping, and things being done as quickly as possible. She was whizz on her mobility scooter and took no prisoners if you got in her way.
A caring, kind and hardworking lady with an amazing sense of humour and was game for a laugh. Her family will miss her so much and remember her with such fondness.
My beautiful nana. I am so glad I had you in my life. You were my best friend, the person I could and would always turn to for guidance and advice. The one most consistant, reliable person.

- Approved by oconnellFor my Jean. I say that because you are and always will be. We shared some laughs and some tears. I have cared for lots of poorly people throughout my career and many become close but few touch my heart like you have. You always found time to ask how I was and see if I needed anything. Such a lady. That’s another hole in my heart I will never fill again. Love you Jean xxxx
