Joan Sandra Thorley
‘ Soul is dancing like a butterfly, up high into the sky, like dandelion fairy wishes’
Date passed away: 14th August 2020
Funeral date: 24th August 2020
Joan was born in Cadishead in 1946, to Robert ‘Bob’ Griffiths and Blodwen ‘Wen’ Griffiths and had a sister Betty.
She grew up in Northwich and later moved to Crewe to raise her family. She met her husband Stewart at age 17, when he was playing in his band. Her best friend wrote a love letter to him pretending to be from Joan and the rest is sweet history. They married at age 21 and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2018. They have a son Daniel and a daughter Lisa.
Joan trained as a hairdresser and later worked with children. Many still ran up to her years later for a hug from ‘Mrs Thorley, my favourite lady’.
Joan loved her animals and always had a dog in her life. She loved her garden and was always reading a story. A bubbly, kind and funny lady, who throughout her life always had a smile, despite suffering from arthritis from the age of 26. Joan was also later diagnosed with cancer in 2020.
A brave and inspirational lady who will be missed so much by family, friends and those lives she touched.
Love and condolences to Stuart, Daniel and Lisa.
