John Stewart Whitby
‘Loved and remembered every day’
John was born on Monday, the 4th of September 1950 to proud parents Nel and Frank Whitby.
John was the eldest of three. He has two sisters Pat and Julie and they lived in Nantwich. His first school was the Church School in Nantwich.
No doubt his sisters put up with his Heavy Rock music coming out of his room. In fact, his music collection is one that anyone would be proud of. As a young man you would see him in Chester and any venue that had live music. His first job at Boronia in the cutting room.
It was not that long before he got a job at Rolls-Royce in the trim shop, perhaps 1975.
The trim shop had all the best leathers from all over the world, he said it was the best job he had ever had, and he enjoyed every minute. Not many could say that after so many years of service.
He had a remote-controlled Land Rover, Doctor Who Daleks and a Scalextric upstairs that any 69-year-old would be proud of. In his heart he was a big kid.
He was also a private man, but his service to Rolls-Royce and his love for his family can be highly commended. He loved going to Scotland, the clean air and wilderness with walks on the beach suited him down to the ground and that’s where his final resting place will be.
He could be happy go lucky, he was a caring, kind and loving man. John was hard-working and thought the world of his family, indeed Emma, Stuart and Jacasta were his world and liked nothing more when going for a cheeseburger at the Talbot with him.
We know he loved his sisters. When he broke his ankle Pat looked after him very well. Emma was telling me about the time when he spent Christmas with his sister and nephew, Chris and his partner Sam which he really enjoyed.
John wasn’t a man of show. He was a private man that you had to get to know.He didn’t do much small talk but if he was a friend you had a friend for life.
After time spent in St Luke’s and the hospital he wanted to go home to the place he loved and felt secure.
With his family around him and in the thoughts of many, on Friday the 28th of August John passed peacefully away.
