Joseph Michael Tapley “Joe”

"Memories are something no-one can steal."

Date passed: 14th of October 2019

Funeral date: 29th of October 2019

“Memories are something no one can steal.”

Joe sadly passed away on the 14th October at the Belong Care Village, Crewe, aged 84 years knowing he was loved and cared for by his devoted family.

The beloved husband of Gwen. Devoted dad of Susan, Carole and Peter. Cherished grandad of Emma and Adam. Loving great grandad of Ava, Luna, Ophelia and Imogen. Also a dear brother of Rob, Michael, Paul, Brian, Kieron, Lillie and the late Noel.

Joe was born in Dublin on Monday 28th January 1935 to proud parents Joseph and Lillie. After his education he moved across to England, aged 22 years when he was head-hunted after becoming an apprentice of the year. He worked for Rolls Royce as a design engineer and was also heavily involved in the pension fund there. Towards the end of his working life he became a lollypop man, finally retiring in 1992.

He loved gardening in his spare time and was also handy at D.I.Y. He also loved wildlife. The family’s favourite holiday destination was Wales.

Joe was a fair-minded family man, a typical straight-talking Irishman!

A Requiem Mass of Thanksgiving for his life will take place on Tuesday 29th October in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception RC Church, Crewe at 10.30am, followed by cremation at Crewe Crematorium.

Donations in memory of Joe will be gratefully received on behalf of Dementia UK.

Joe was a considerate, extremely intelligent, really decent ( in an old fashioned, since departed way) human being. His greatest asset was that he didn’t suffer fools lightly, especially if they were willingly and proudly of that genre….I loved him so much for that one quality alone.
Yes, he was opinionated, but always based on considered and logically supported argument…..I will miss his wisdom, humour and genuine kindness so much.
His love and devotion to his beloved Gwen and children was beyond question; an example to all.
Thank you, my dearest brother, not only for being my sibling but also for your loving kindness, example and support for me. Mam and Dad were and are so proud of you…. You are now with them in eternity.

    What a man.

So many stories and jokes that go with his personality. You had a tale for everything and I always enjoyed listening and talking with you. You accepted me into your home and family as if I was a grandchild of your own. That I will always be thankful for.

You fought hard Joe. (Maybe that was the Irish coming out in you!) You won’t be forgotten and will forever be missed.

I will miss our garden walks and talks. Sleep well until we speak again.
