Joseph Sasi “Joe”

“Never far from our love & thoughts.”

In the care of Leighton Hospital, Joe died on Thursday 20th January 2022 aged only 48 years.

The beloved husband of Claire. Devoted dad to Cole & Kim  A cherished son to Jozsef & the late Anna. Much loved brother to Mark and his wife Evelin and a Special Uncle to Hugo.  Joe will be so sadly missed & fondly remembered by all who knew him.

My brother-in-law Joe Sasi was our dad, husband, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, nephew, friend and colleague to all. He was diagnosed with throat cancer less than 3 months ago and sadly passed away on Thursday 20th January at the young age of 48.

Joe was welcomed into the world on the 3rd September 1973 by his father Jozsef and mother Anna, who is no longer with us. Joe was born in Crewe where he spent all of his life, his smile and charm found him many friends – from school years at St. Mary’s and St. Thomas More then later in his working life on the railway.

Growing up in the days before modern technology Joe loved meeting people, whether that was on the street, down the field, at a rally, out on his motorbike and even in the 90’s clubbing scene – he was loved by all. He had many names, including Joey, Sasi, Sas, Sas Man, Hungarian Prince, but he was best known as Joe – a kind and loving man.

On the 1st of April 1999 Joe met his wife Claire at Gregory’s nightclub – YES, on April Fool’s Day, but Joe was no fool. From that day on they spent every moment together, from having a latte in Costa to walking their dog. In June 2000 their first daughter Nichole was born and 3 years later their second daughter Kimberly. There wasn’t many occasions where Joe would cry, but the arrival of his daughters into the world and marrying Claire in 2004 were the proudest moments of his life. He had never been happier.

As some of you know there were parts of Joe that made him unique, his love of cars for one – the amount of cars he had over the years, he could have opened a car dealership. Joe had also been trying to teach himself how to play the guitar for many years, but let’s face it we all know Joe never liked technology, so would always get his girls to find him a video on YouTube to follow. But it didn’t stop at the video, he would go straight upstairs with his guitar, one leg on the bed, resting the guitar on his knee and strumming the tune he had just learnt – which always seemed to sound the same. His selflessness led his family to know him as half-a-job. Joe started many jobs around the house, but come to think of it, none of them were ever finished. As, at the ring of a phone or knock on the door, if someone needed help he would be there.

Joe’s life was filled with so many happy memories but no matter how long this eulogy may be we will never be able to put into words how we feel about not having Joe here with us today, and how much we will always love him. Seeing so many people in church is a true reflection of how much he will be missed.

Thanking all of his family and friends for being with us today, we would like to invite you all to join us at The Woodside and to hear things like “do you remember when Joe…” There will be a memory book at The Woodside, we would love it if you could write your favourite memories of Joe, so the family can read about times in Joe’s life we might not have even known about – keeping his memory alive as if he was in the room with us. The stories are endless. Thank you.

We love you Joe.

Joe’s Service of Thanks Giving will take place at St Mary of the Immaculate Conception,  Crewe on Wednesday 9th February at 12.30pm followed by Cremation.

Kind donations in memory of Joe are going to Cancer Research.

Family flowers only.
