Katie Watkins Nee Stockton

“It’s all our memories that will keep you near.”

Date passed: 28th of October 2021

Funeral date: 12th of November 2021

“It’s all our memories that will keep you near.”

Katie passed away peacefully at home with her family on 28th October 2021 aged 46 years.

Loving Wife to Jon and Mum to Jessica.

Katie Watkins, an incredibly beautiful lady on the outside, and a beautiful person on the inside.  She had many wonderful characteristics, she was kind, caring, thoughtful and generous with her time and love, incredibly hard working, a perfectionist in everything she turned her hand to, easy going, fun loving and unassuming with a quiet nature, she was extremely down to earth and didn’t like anything to fancy, she preferred to keep things relatively simple, she knew exactly what she liked and had a nice way of telling you.  Katie was motherly and homely, and her life totally revolved around her cherished family, and she loved spending time with her dogs, Max and Gizmo.

Katie was the beloved wife of Jon, devoted mum to Jess, cherished daughter to Geoff and Susan, a daughter in law to David and Jackie, much-loved sister to Neil, dearest sister-in-law to Vikki, Carl and Sarah, loving auntie to Fliss, Emiley, Ella, Joe, Josh, Oliver, Ben and Elizabeth, and was a good friend to many.

Katie will be remembered for many things, her naturally curly hair, her beautiful big blue eyes and her scrumptious rocky road!

She loved roast dinners but definitely not lamb!  As a young girl, she was totally disillusioned when she saw a feather on an egg, eggs were sold in supermarkets, they didn’t come from a hen and she wouldn’t eat one after she saw that feather!

She loved gardening, wildlife especially the birds in the garden, animals, reading and watching the soaps on TV, Corrie, Emmerdale, Home and Away and Neighbours.  She was very good at cross stitch and very often gave them to people as presents, especially at Christmas.  In her early years she would pick fluff off anything that would shed and tickle her nose with it at the same time as sucking her thumb!  And she really disliked spiders, fireworks and being on her own.

Katie was welcomed into the world on New Year’s Eve as the whole world was getting ready to welcome in 1975.  She attended Millfields Primary School and Malbank Secondary before starting on a career path as an administrator working for Boughey Distribution, NWF Fuels and UK fuels before taking on a completely new challenge around four years ago when she and Jon made a formidable team running a local garage.

As a youngster, Katie joined Acton Brownies, she was always keen and enthusiastic and achieved many badges but one time when she went away to camp, she wouldn’t eat her breakfast so her parents were told to come and collect her!  Banished and unable to return! Until the next camp adventure.

She was also keen on fishing and regularly took part in the junior fishing matches with Neil and she normally won although Neil apparently has more trophies!

The family have such fond memories of the caravan holidays they used to have at Taly-Bont and Barmouth with its gorgeous beaches;

They often went on Shearings coach holidays, another Stockton tradition over three generations and only the women were allowed!

Katie couldn’t go twelve months without a regular trip to Barmouth, she was happy to drive and even if it was just a day trip, she had to cram in all her favourite things like crabbing, the burger place, donuts and a knickerbocker glory!

In her younger days, she loved socialising with friends, she had a part time job at the White Lion Pub in Hankelow near Audlem and was a popular member of the darts team there.  She and Jon met whilst she was working there in 1999, they got engaged on July 24th 2000 at the Manor House in Alsager and after a whirlwind romance, they married the day before her birthday on 30th December 2000 at Crewe Registry Office.

They started married life in a rented house in Nantwich where they welcomed Jess into the world on 23rd September 2003 and just two years later, they bought their forever home in Elm Close, Wistaston,

Katie was a home loving, girl, she loved music and particularly loved watching Michael Buble especially at Christmas and uplifting musicals like the Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia.  Her mum has fond memories of their shopping trips, they always had to call for an ice cream on the way home.

Her Funeral Service & Cremation will take place at Crewe Crematorium on Friday 12th November at 1pm.

Family flowers only. Donations to be confirmed.
