“Sad are the hearts that love you. Silent the tears that fall”
In Leighton after a short illness Marjorie passed peacefully away , aged 94 years. The beloved wife of the late Bill. Also a much loved mum of the late Susan and the late Keith, sister, grandma and great grandma. Marjorie was born in 1923, the second child of Lucy and George Jones. She was a bright child and attended Pedley Street Infant and Bedford Street Senior School. After school her work was mainly clerical, working for County Clothes, Foden’s, Palmer Man, a waitress at Hoptroffs Tea Room and for Chester Barrie in Solder Optics, where she interviewed and hired all the staff. She worked there in a senior position until she was 76 years old. Marjorie married Bill on boxing day 1944. They had two children Susan and Keith. She was so proud when her grandchildren arrived and prouder still when she became a great grandmother to four. Marjorie and Bill loved going to stay with Bill’s relations in Blackpool, visiting the shows with the well known stars, and dancing in the Tower Ballroom. They also took holidays abroad with family and friends. She was a keen Crown Green Bowler and made many lifelong friends through the game. Marjorie’s funeral will take place on Monday 11th December at 12 noon in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe, followed by cremation. Donations in memory of Marjorie will be gratefully received for St Luke’s.
My deepest sympathies to all the family at this sad time.
