"Love's last gift - Rememberance."

Date passed: 8th of August 2019

Funeral date: 19th of August 2019

“Love’s last gift – Rememberance.”

Mary sadly passed away on Thursday 8th August in St. Joseph’s Hospice, Liverpool, knowing she was loved and cared for, aged 86 years.

The beloved wife of the late George, devoted mother of Barbara and John, cherished grandmother of Samuel, Cherisse, Elliott, Louis and Madison and loving great grandmother of Zoe. Mary will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by everyone who knew her.

Born in Liverpool in June 1933 to proud parents Ethel and Charlie Kidman, she was the youngest of three siblings, Edie her sister and Charlie her brother were already grown up and married when Mary came along. During the war she went to live with Edie in Maghull, as it was deemed safer there than in the city itself.

When she was five she started learning to play the piano, in the decades that followed she became an accomplished player and her music followed her throughout her life and well into her 80’s. Her proudest moment was when she was asked to stand in and play for Ken Dodd on stage.

Mary went to Daisy Street school, where she made many friends. After her education she worked as a clock maker where again she was a popular and sociable member of the work force. Later on she also worked as a greengrocer’s assistant.

In 1953 after some time spent courting she got married to the love of her life, George. In October of the following year the couple were delighted to welcome Barbara into the world and a few years later, in 1961, John made the family complete.

Growing up the family would spend holidays at George’s aunts cottage in Gronant in Wales where they would spend many an hour on the local beach. Back home they would become the proud owners of the first television set in their street!

As well as playing the piano, Mary loved knitting, doing the crossword and eating galaxy chocolate!! She also loved her holidays in the UK, especially Angelsey, Scotland and Oundle. She was a bit of a worrier but was a kind, loving, caring lady.

Mary’s funeral will take place on Monday 19th August in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 12 noon, followed by cremation.

Donations in memory of Mary will be gratefully received on behalf of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
