“No need for words except to say, loved and remembered every day.”
Michael sadly passed away on the 8th December in the care of Leighton Hospital, aged 74 years, knowing he was loved and cared for.
The beloved husband of Doreen, to whom he was married for 35 years. Loving step-father of Carol, Sandra and Julie. Also cherished grandad of Michael, Catherine, Fiona, Edward, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Bethany and great grandad of Jessica, Lily, Noah, Harriet, Joshua, Jack, Neve, Ace and Chea. Mike will be sadly missed but affectionately remembered by all who knew him.
Mike was born on Friday 26th October 1945 in Filey, North Yorkshire. He was the youngest of six children and is survived by three brothers, George, Raymond and Keith. By the time he was ten the family moved to Weaverham, near Northwich. After finishing his education he became an apprentice for British Rail, a job he kept all his working life for 45 years until his retirement in 2005.
He met his future wife, Doreen at a local dance, it was a past-time he enjoyed doing all his life. He loved animals and could not stand neglect of any kind, he was on the committee of the Animals in Need for Alsager.
Mike and Doreen loved their holidays, it would be easier to list the places that they hadn’t been to over the years! From cruises to holidays all over the Mediterranean and around the world, but their particular favourite would have to be Cyprus.
Mike was a hard working, genuine man who will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all his family and friends.
His funeral will take place on Thursday 19th December in St. Matthew’s Parish Church, Haslington at 12.45pm, followed by interment in the churchyard.
Donations in memory of Mike will be gratefully received on behalf of Alsager Animals in Need.

I have fond memories of uncle Mike from when I was young and he used to visit us in Bournemouth. I particularly remember his smile and laugh as we used to spend time together. I’m thankful for these moments and when he and Doreen came to mine and Claire’s wedding.
All too common, I regret not seeing him more often, you just think there is always time….
Love to all the family
