"To the world you were someone, To us you were the world."
Date passed: 17th of May 2022
Funeral date: 8th of June 2022
“To the world you were someone, To us you were the world.”
Paul sadly passed away at his home on 17th May, aged 67 years.
A loving husband, father and step-father, Paul will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Paul arrived on 26th June 1954. His early years were spent living on canal and reflecting on his childhood, he used to say it wasn’t the best but spoke fondly of his mum. By his own admission, Paul was known as a scrapper and not to be messed with. After leaving school at an early age, he had several jobs but eventually started work with the council doing bin collections early in the morning and house clearances in the afternoon. He then progressed to driving the wagons before achieving his goal as a HGV driver until he was made redundant in his fifties.
After he met and married the love of his life Carol, he became a doting dad to Michael and then welcomed Terence into the world in 1988.
Had he not taken his new commitments seriously, Paul could have become a professional darts player. On 18th June 1994, he appeared on Bullseye, the first dart he threw hit the bull and he went on to win but didn’t bother going for the main prize as he didn’t fancy going on the Orient Express and despite the episode being recorded on VHS and aired again on Challenge TV in recent years, he would never watch it.
In 1999, the family moved to their forever home on Badger Avenue, next door to Simon and Lisa – both have many hilarious memories of Paul.
Paul was immensely proud of both Michael and Terence and extremely fond of his daughter in law Laura. He and Carol made the perfect team, and her happiness was his driving force in life.
He loved his music and very often had dance anthems at full blast – in competition Simon would also turn his music up but then if Simon played something Paul liked, Paul would shout “turn it up!”
He loved fishing but despite patiently sitting all day, he very often went home empty handed – until Simon changed his ancient, useless fishing line and he was then in with a chance, but Paul would never throw anything away.
Throughout his life Paul was known for various reasons, he was well known in the dart’s circuit, as a bouncer, he also enjoyed being a DJ. Michael and Terence remember wherever they went, people constantly stopped to chat to him, and they always allowed extra time because of it.
He will be missed by so many but finally reunited with his beloved Carol.
A service to celebrate Paul’s life will take place on Wednesday 8th June in the Crematorium chapel, Crewe at 10am, followed by cremation.
