Roy Barnett
“A daily thought, a silent tear, a constant wish that you were here”
Roy passed away on the 7th of August at Ashgate Hospice aged only 67 years old. The beloved husband of Brenda and the much loved Dad of Tracey, Scot and Craig. Also a cherished Grandad to Daniel, Libby, Isabelle, Ellie and Noah and a much loved Father-in-Law to Gary, Claire and Sally. He had many siblings and was close to Kate, Alan and John.
Roy met Brenda in 1972 at Warmingham Grange nightclub where they soon became inseparable, marrying only 7 months later…and they said it wouldn’t last!! They were together for 48 happy years.
Roy was a hardworking man and had various jobs but his final job made him the happiest with 15 years as a Railway Signaller for Network Rail.
His passions included many sports including cricket and he loved to go fishing. He loved to support both of his football teams Crewe Alexandra and Manchester United. He loved holidays with his wife and family and was always looking to book the next one!
Roy will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday 19th August at Crewe Crematorium at 12.15pm.
Donations in Roy’s memory are for Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield.
Special mention also to the wonderful Macmillan Nurses who helped Dad whilst he was poorly.
Such a sweet sweet man who I had the pleasure of getting to know. I remember one thing which made me smile, when he was going to tell you something funny he would chuckle…will be sadly missed by everyone who know him.
