Shane Arnold

"You are no more than a thought away"

Date passed: 19th of December 2018

Funeral date: 14th of January 2019

“You are no more than a thought away.”

Shane sadly passed away in Leighton Hospital on 19th December, aged just 62 years.

The beloved husband of Susan, he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all his family and everyone who knew him.

Shane was born on 23rd May 1956 to proud parents Freda and Arthur, he grew up alongside his brother, John and his sisters Glenys and Linda in Crewe.

He had various jobs over the years, including Mornflake, Rolls Royce, Linpack and Iveco, where he operated the forklift truck, he was particularly happy when in the driving seat!

It was at Mornflake where he met his future wife, Susan. They eventually got engaged and in 1975, at Crewe Green Church they became man and wife. They lived in Crewe for a couple of years, welcoming their first child, Marie in 1977, before moving to Northwich, where Darren came along in 1981.

Shane loved his driving and would always be on hand for family trips and taking the kids to various activities. The family would also regularly attend dog shows with their beloved chihuahuas.

In 2012 the family moved back to Crewe and Shane and Darren started regularly attending the Heritage Centre, becoming volunteers, each tasked with looking after a model railway, keeping an eye on the museum and occasionally driving the train on the miniature railway.

Shane was a big Star Wars and Star Trek fan, but he loved watching a James Bond film, Susan often returning home from somewhere to find Shane glued to the television.

He also loved popping in to any of the pound shops, just to see “what they were giving away.”

As their kids grew up, Shane and Susan were delighted when they became grandparents, they loved looking after Marie’s kids, Will and Jake, often taking them to days out at the seaside, it gave Shane another excuse to get behind the wheel!

Shane was the kind of person who would help anyone, even when he started to struggle with his health, having to retire at the age of 45, he would still be thinking more about other people than himself.

Shane’s funeral will take place on Monday 14th January in the Crematorium Chapel, Crewe at 9.20am, followed by cremation.
