“He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.”
Shirley passed away peacefully on 26th June in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice, knowing she was loved, surrounded by her family, aged 83 years.
The cherished wife of Roy. Devoted mother of Carl and Stephen. Loving granny of Matthew and great granny of William and Oliver. Also a dear sister of Jean. Shirley will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all her family and friends.
Shirley was born in Railway Street in Crewe on Sunday 1st September 1935. She attended Pedley Street and Bedford Street schools. After her education she worked for CWS Clothing and Doodies on Nantwich Road.
She was a great cook, her Sunday lunches were legendary! She loved her food, especially a battered fish from her favourite chippy.
Her favourite holiday destinations included Tenby, Brixham, Cornwall, The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales.
Shirley was a very caring person and had a great – but dry- sense of humour!
Shirley’s funeral will take place on Wednesday 10th July at St. Andrew’s Church, Crewe at 12.30pm, followed by cremation at Crewe Crematorium.
Donations in memory of Shirley will be gratefully received on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
