Stephen (Steve) was born on 23rd November 1948 in the year the NHS was born.He attended Brierley Street School until 1963 and started work as an apprentice mechanic at James Slack Motors Crewe until he joined the police force in 1967 and posted to Birkenhead. He eventually took up a position with the Welcome Foundation at Crewe Hall in their Transport Department. In 1977 he moved on to Rolls Royce Ltd in crewe in the warranty Department where he made many friends. When made redundant in 1992 he took a post with ERF and then IVECO .
Steve was a quiet man who loved his music. He loved nothing better than walking his dog across the fields.
He enjoyed renovating a friends steam train at Oswestry and also going to the pub for a pint or two. For a little while he took up clay pigeon shooting. He absolutely loved his motorbikes and has had many.
For almost the last three years he has been cared for at Mayfield House Care Home and for the last week of his life at Bentley Manor care home.
Steve has two children Matthew and Helen and Pat who has been a constant in his life and also a sister Valerie.
