Teresa Bourne
“You are no more than a thought away.”
Teresa passed away in Leighton Hospital on 21st May aged 83 years. Much loved mum of Clive and Karen, gran of Sonny, Cameron, Ella, Gracie and Harry and great gran of Jackson. Teresa will be very sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Teresa will be greatly missed, especially by family and her loving and devoted husband Alan, of 60 years bar a few months. He had stumbled his way through their first dance in Crewe Town Hall, and the rest is history.
Although Teresa underwent major surgery earlier this year, her passing now was not expected and comes as a terrible shock. But her family were around her hospital bed holding her hand, and she was aware of their presence.
Family had always been a priority for Teresa, and of course for Alan. They made a great team, providing lovingly and generously for Clive, Karen and the late Wayne. Now may Wayne and Teresa be together again at peace.
As the years have gone by Teresa and Alan have been blessed by 5 grandchildren. They have enjoyed her unconditional love and being spoilt rotten. Nothing was ever too much trouble. They knew she would always be there for them for anything. She was so proud of them all.
Teresa and Alan enjoyed some great caravan holidays together, and in retirement these became ever more significant. Torquay in Devon was one of their favourite places.
Teresa was first and foremost a hairdresser – and a pretty good one by
all accounts. As such she was also a friend, a counsellor, and a therapist to many.
She also worked in Asda for 25 years and. If you went shopping in Asda and had encountered Teresa, you came away a better person.
Teresa connects us with people and events over a very long period of time. Brought up in Crewe since her early years, where she has chosen to live all her life, her memory went back to some very different times.
She carried forward in her life some of the key values and standards derived from this earlier life. Most of these values are still as relevant today as ever, and she passes them on to subsequent generations.
Teresa had a sense of beauty and artistry – a creative streak. She started off with an advantage of course because she was a very attractive lady. You can see her creativity in lots of ways:
In her dancing, in her hairdressing, in the way she turned herself out, the clothes she chose to wear, her appreciation of the beauty and charm of town and countryside, and her love of music. Her love of music took her to see some wonderful concerts and musicals – to see the likes of Showaddywaddy, Cher and her all time favourite Tina Turner. Tina at Wembley was Simply The Best and biggest concert she went to with her daughter Karen. She would have found it amazing that Tina Turner died the same week as she did and at the same age.
The final piece of music at the funeral service was of course Tina singing “Simply the Best”.
Another great love was Manchester United. Typically she would watch games at Clive’s home while enjoying a Chinese meal. She would kick and head every ball along with the players. If Man United lost she would not be happy and everyone would know it!
We take comfort that Teresa lived life to the full and was able to live out her final years with Alan in their own home. It is only quite recently that her health has given serious concern.
Each family member will now hold many cherished memories, but so will all those who knew Teresa. Use those memories to enhance and inspire your lives in the future – to make you better, stronger, more loving people, not to make you sad.
While we hope we will be reunited with loved ones again, and those who love Teresa will hope to see her again, in the meanwhile she leaves you with fun, happy and fond memories. Rejoice in those memories, now absolutely priceless. Smile and chuckle as she might have smiled and chuckled.
So may she rest in peace.
Teresa’s funeral will take place at Crewe Crematorium Chapel on Tuesday 20th June at 12.15.
