Wendy Jane Tirrel was born on 13th December 1970 to her parents Dave and Sheila.
She had four siblings and they spent their childhood living on Rolls Avenue . Wendy
often reminisced about family holidays and how she enjoyed looking after her nieces
and nephews.
She attended Hebden Green School where she met her lifelong friends and
remained close throughout their lives.
After Wendy and Derek met on a friendship group dedicated to people with
disabilities, they initially got to know each other through regular text messages and
video chats before finally meeting in person. Their relationship blossomed and they
married in 2006. Wendy’s dearest wish was to become a mum, so they were
delighted when they were blessed with their amazing son David.
Wendy always loved going on holiday as a child with her mum and dad and her
adventures continued with Derek and David. They visited Disneyland Paris and
enjoyed a wonderful cruise around the Norwegian Fiords. They often went to the
beach with their beloved dog Bonnie.
Wendy was incredibly artistic, talented and creative, a perfectionist in everything she
turned her hand to. She had a flair for interior design and created the lovely home
she shared with her beloved husband Derek and her cherished son David. She
loved photographic memories displayed neatly in frames on the wall and the
decorative touches which made a warm, homely house full of love. More recently,
she had taken up a new hobby of crafting using resin. She made stunning pieces of
jewellery and trinket boxes and had a keen eye for detail.
She was self-taught on the piano, and very good at learning to play songs by ear.
Wendy loved music, especially playing online music games such as rockband, with
her family, carers and numerous online friends from around the world. She had a
keen interest in food, she knew what she liked and loved being involved in the
kitchen.
Wendy and Derek recently celebrated fifteen years of married life and David’s
seventeenth birthday.
She was a loving daughter to Sheila and the late Dave, a much-loved sister, Auntie,
dearest daughter in law, sister-in-law and friend.
Wendy had many friends including her devoted carers but her cherished lifelong
friends from Hebden School and from her time in hospital as a child. She was
adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and will be sadly missed.

May she rest in peace
